The University is often understood as teaching and research. But today, more than ever, it is crucial to transfer knowledge to society, to extrapolate the walls of academia and to seek the very important public recognition with regard to science and research.

Thus, the University of Algarve assumes as its mission a consolidated tradition of transferring knowledge to society, developing intervention projects with strong social, scientific and cultural relevance in different geographical spaces and, often, in partnership with recognised institutions and organisations, as is the case of primary and secondary schools and the living science centres

Through a set of actions that aims to extend research beyond the walls of the University, communicating it and bringing knowledge to the most diverse audiences, in the most diverse spheres of society, the University of Algarve transforms scientific information into useful knowledge, offering the community discoveries and technological advances that trigger new ways of being and living.
