On May 1st and 2nd, the University of Algarve will host the 9th European Neuroscience Conference by Doctoral Students (ENCODS 2023), which will take place at the Gambelas Campus. The registration deadline has been extended to March 12.

The European Neuroscience Conference by Doctoral Students (ENCODS) is an initiative started by graduate students at the Neurocampus Bordeaux (France) in 2013. The main aim of the ENCODS meeting is to provide a safe space for early-career neuroscientists where they can share their research in the form of talks and poster presentations, create new collaborations, learn from experts, and network with researchers and students from all around the world. The number of attendees is around 100, which creates a privileged environment for students and trainees to get to know each other but also engage in conversations with the keynote and workshop speakers who usually gladly attend the full seminar.

ENCODS 2023 theme is "Labcoats and Laptops: Neuroscience through different lenses", and we're aiming to bring together different disciplines of neuroscience and how we can all work together. We'll have opportunities for poster presentations, lightning talks, and longer format talks, as well as workshop sessions and 4 keynote speakers from a range of neuroscience disciplines.

The goal of ENCODS 2023 is for all the attendees to gain insightful knowledge but also learn useful methods and techniques. We can all teach something to each other: how to set up a new technique in a lab, what experiments could be performed to improve a project, or how to handle a disagreement with your PI. Hence, we are encouraging all PhD graduate students, but also pre-PhD trainees (Master students and research associates) wanting to pursue their scientific career with a PhD to attend ENCODS 2023. Post-doctoral fellows are also welcome to submit an application.

The registration fee is €120, which includes registration for all seminars and workshops, abstract submission to present a poster or give a talk, lunches, and coffee. A discount for FENS members and University of Algarve students will be applied.
