Academic Association & Tunas
History
The Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg) was created on October 1, 1997.
With national notoriety and an increasingly active participation in the country's associative movement, AAUAlg has been improving its structure, spaces and services, in order to make available to students, as well as to the entire academic community , the best study and working conditions.
The areas he takes care of are essentially Pedagogy and Educational Policy; Social Action and Solidarity; Employability, Entrepreneurship and Professional Opportunities; Communication and Marketing; Student Organizations (nuclei and autonomous sections); Sport; Academic Culture and Tradition; Events.
Noteworthy are some important events for students, which the Academic Association also organizes, such as the Academic Week, the Freshman Reception and the Academic Arraiais.
The various bodies are made up of students, elected annually, who work with students in a variety of ways.
Services Provided
Restoration
AAUALG currently manages 2 restaurant spaces.
With hot and complete meals and cafeteria service work:
- Bar-restaurant of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia, Campus da Penha;
- Bar-restaurant of the wooden pavilions, Campus de Gambelas.
Reprography
The stores / copy center, in a total of two, distributed on the campuses of Penha and Gambelas, allow the sharing of information between teachers and students, as well as the printing of works, possible from home.
In stores / copy centers it is also possible to purchase badges, course tapes, finalist folders, pins, cans for tapes, t-shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts, among other items.
Sports Office
In promoting an active and healthy life, the Sports Office organizes an annual program of physical and sports activities called “Faz Esporte” for the entire academic community. This program is based on 4 different areas, internal competition (Rector trophies), external competition (competitions within the scope of the Academic Federation of University Sports), group classes and events.
Regarding internal competition, the rector's trophies are streamlined in the Football 11, Futsal, Football 7, Karting and Table Tennis modalities.
To participate in FADU competitions, they promote training in the collective modalities of Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Futsal, Handball and Rugby.
With regard to events, the highlights are the Campus on Holidays for children aged six to twelve (Easter and Summer) and the sports aspect of the UAlg Summer Courses, in addition to the organization of several FADU events.
There is also the possibility to participate in group classes and try out Zumba, Fitness Lunch, Tai Chi / Chi Kung, Pilates and even water sports like Surf and Bodyboard, among others.

Tunas
