Tavira Ciência Viva Centre

The Ciência Viva Centre in Tavira is a challenging Science Centre, integrating the Portuguese network of Ciência Viva Centres. Located in the former chapel of a convent, Convento do Carmo, close to one of most emblematic churches of Tavira, this Science Centre offers visitors an interactive exhibition exploring the themes “Water and Energy”, in a unique building of enormous beauty and architectural value.

Aiming at promoting the scientific and technological culture to the general public, Tavira’s Ciência Viva Centre is also a laboratory where multiple scientific hands-on activities take place. Practical workshops, seminars and temporary exhibitions challenge the visitors’ scientific curiosity. Furthermore, taking advantage of Tavira’s attractiveness and richness, outdoor activities include guided tours that integrate natural, cultural and scientific values of the town’s surroundings.

Tavira Ciência Viva Centre also organizes several activities that engage local citizens and stakeholders to debate relevant themes in science and technology, promoting Tavira as a city of scientific culture.

Scientific occupation during holyday periods and birthday parties are also offered; visitors can also buy scientific gifts in our small shop.

Opening hours: 10h-18h, Tuesday to Saturday; in the summer this schedule is extended.

Come and experience!
