UAlg strengthens accommodation offer through partnerships with local operators

The University of the Algarve met today with several operators of Local Accommodation (AL), with the objective of finding quick and alternative solutions that allow to increase the number of beds destined to displaced students.

In response to the high number of candidates placed in the 1st phase of the National Competition for Access to Higher Education, the biggest increase in the last 20 years, the University of Algarve met today with several operators of Local Accommodation (AL), in order to find solutions swift and alternative ways to increase the number of beds for displaced students.

UAlg, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Higher Education and the Municipality of Faro, intends to establish a partnership with several LA operators, certified and licensed.

Currently, 10 operators have already expressed their interest in participating, which will allow for a reinforcement of up to 170 beds, available at regulated prices, a value that cannot exceed 241.35 euros per student. This platform is being updated and is still open to other LA operators interested in joining the initiative.

It should be noted that the Social Action Services of the University of Algarve has 9 University Residences, with 533 beds, for undergraduate and master students. The scholarship holders covered by the Scholarship Allocation System have priority, and the rest can benefit from this support, if the number of beds available allows it.

UAlg considers that this measure constitutes an important support for students and their families, allowing to find more appropriate solutions, both in monitoring and in the transparency of the offers made available.

The number and type of beds available, as well as the adhering operators, will be updated daily, in a process of permanent monitoring. The information will be made available as soon as possible here.
