A sessão terá lugar no anfiteatro B do Complexo Pedagógico, do Campus de Gambelas.

A palestra, de entrada livre, será falada na língua inglesa.

A iniciativa é organizada pela Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da UAlg.

Sobre a palestra

"Scientific Research papers around the globe can be visualized as a networked information space that contains a collection of information entities, inter-connected by a link-structure and commonly known as a Citation Graph.

These papers contain valuable information regarding how a particular scholarly activity has evolved during its lifecycle. A citation link in todays citation graph only implies that the paper at the other node cites the paper associated to the first node, without identifying any cognitive relationship between the two. A meaningful relation between the published articles, easily interpreted by the machines, becomes immensely helpful. We have looked into some existing semantic and meaningful representations for citation and their limitations. We have also defined a formal and meaningful definition of these relations in the form of an Ontology. In order to understand a citations true meaning and semantics we have performed a survey to list and categorize them. We have discovered more than 150 citations reasons from the published literature. Many of the suggested reasons have overlapped and diffused meanings, giving rise a need to define a nearly disjoint set of reasons. We have clustered and shortlisted only eight reasons in a hierarchical layout. We have also developed a dictionary containing a mapping graph between the verbs with predictive complements in English Language, verbs extracted from the selected corpus using natural language processing and our ontology classes. Based on our finding and experiments, we have proposed an ontology for citations context and reasons CCRO leading to defining three mappings to explain the working in detail."
