Dora Agapito holds a Habilitation (Agregação) in Economics and Management Sciences (2024), a PhD in Tourism (2013), an MSc in Marketing (2010) and a BSc in Communication Sciences with a specialisation in Corporate Communication (2007), University of the Algarve (UAlg), Portugal. She developed her post-doctoral research at the School of Economics and Management, University of Porto (2018), focusing on consumer behaviour. With 15 years of teaching experience in higher education, she is currently an Assistant Professor with Habilitation at the Faculty of Economics, UAlg, where she is the Director of the PhD in Tourism and the MSc in Tourism Organisations Management. Both courses are taught in English to an international audience. Agapito is also a member of the Directorate Board of the MSc in Marketing Management and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Faculty of Economics (since 2020). She supervises doctoral and master's theses (22 completed master's dissertations, 1 completed PhD thesis, 1 completed post-doc, 15 ongoing master's dissertations and 8 ongoing PhD theses). Previously, Agapito was Senior Lecturer in Tourism & Events Management at the International Business School, University of Lincoln, UK (2017-2020), where she was awarded a Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Prior to this, she engaged in roles such as invited lecturer at UAlg (including a member of the Directorate Board of the MSc in Communication Design for Tourism and Culture,) corporate trainer in marketing and communications, and journalist. She is proud to be an integrated member of CinTurs - Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being, where currently she coordinates the Tourism and Hospitality Management Research Area, and is an associate editor of the Journal of Tourism, Sustainability, and Well-being. She is also on the editorial boards of indexed tourism journals such as: International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Destination Marketing & Management, Tourism Review, and Tourism & Management Studies. Agapito has experience as co-principal investigator and researcher on internationally funded projects and as an author in leading tourism journals (e.g. Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Destination Marketing & Management, Current Issues in Tourism). Her main line of research is sensory consumer experiences and well-being in tourism and hospitality marketing and management.
