Sérgio Santos is Full Professor in Management at the University of Algarve, President of the Scientific Committee of the School of Economics, and Scientific Coordinator of the Centre for Advanced Studies in Management and Economics (CEFAGE). He holds a PhD in Management Science from the University of Strathclyde (UK), a MA in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Manchester (UK) and a BA in Business Administration from the University of Algarve (Portugal). His main research interests include performance measurement and management, benchmarking, efficiency assessment, management control, strategy implementation, and capable ageing. He has authored (or co-authored) more than 60 articles and chapters, including publications in the European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, Omega - The International Journal of Management Science, Annals of Operations Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Management Decision, Journal of Management & Organization, Technological Forecasting and Social Change Journal, Papers in Regional Science, International Regional Science Review, Total Quality Management & Business Excellence, Health Care Management Science, Health Policy and Journal of Aging Studies. He has also supervised (or co-supervised) forthy master dissertations, 3 doctoral thesis and 2 post-doctoral projects and has acted as a reviewer/evaluator for 19 international scientific journals, for FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology) (PhD Scholarship calls of 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022 and Program MIT Portugal calls of 2021 and 2022), for the Czech Science Foundation (Project calls of 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2019) and for A3ES - Agência de Avaliação e Acreditação do Ensino Superior (Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education) (as President or Member of several External Assessment Panels responsible for the assessment of bachelor, master and PhD programmes).
