ALGARVIOS, an exhibition of photographs taken by Vitor Pina, will open on 10th June the 3rd edition of the Photography Encounters of Lagoa (Algarve, Portugal). The look of the photographer born in Portimão, Algarve, will be presented at the Parque Municipal do Sítio das Fontes (near Estômbar) and can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday between 15:00 and 20:00, until September 4. Entry is free.

The exhibition consists on 38 B&W photos and seeks to contribute to a collective identity and picture of the region and its residents. Vitor Pina, the author, speaks about an 'intense street photography', because it is of great social and physical proximity to the portrayed. 'There are honest images that, without taking the documentary strand, aspires to be a social mirror of the present time.'

About the exposed series Pedro Ferré, Vice-Rector of the University of the Algarve, wrote: 'the photo exhibition of Vitor Pina shows the man as long as a sequence of fragments that be draw from youth and puberty to the time of a carved face through the crossing of the seasons.'

Nuno de Santos Loureiro, the exhibition's curator, says on the poster / foldout brochure that it was a selection made from a ‘vast collection of images featuring the captivating look of a' street photographer ', valued by a mixture of intimacy with the photographed and contemporary records that did not limit to take the easy approach of copying the masters.’
