Chemical Analysis Laboratory

The Laboratory provides analytical services to external entities and supports research carried out in the different organic units of the University.

The Chemical Analysis Laboratory (LAQ) is an analytical unit dependent on the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Algarve. This structure started operating in October 2000 with the aim of providing analytical services to external entities and supporting research carried out in the different organic units of the University.

In essence, the LAQ was oriented to be able to respond to part of the analytical determinations contained in the Water Framework Directive regarding the control of water quality for different uses, but soon the team was developing new areas of action. It currently has a great number of analytical methods validated from chemistry to microbiology, in matrices as different as natural waters (ground, surface, coastal, oceanic) waters for human consumption, wastewater and process water, soils, marine sediments, solid urban waste, plant compounds and fertilisers, WWTP sludge, animal and plant tissues, salt and salt products, food, etc...

Equipped with modern equipment and facilities and composed of a young and dynamic team, the laboratory follows the guideline that characterises the University of the Algarve, based on the rigour and quality of the service provided, coupled with the constant search for innovation in the services and products it offers.

The LAQ offers its customers a set of fast and low-cost analysis packages. Contact the laboratory for more information.
