Encourages and supports the international mobility of researchers, inside and outside Europe

The EURAXESS center at the University of Algarve is responsible for the International Relations Office, and its objective is to provide assistance to all national and foreign researchers wishing to develop scientific activities in the Research Units or Poles assigned to UAlg. The center is also available to provide extensive support to its researchers who wish to develop their research activity abroad, establishing contact with their European counterparts or several European contact networks.

 

About EURAXESS

The European Commission aims to intensify efforts to promote the mobility and career development of researchers, consolidating Europe as a leader in the excellence of scientific research.

EURAXESS– Researchers in Motion was created to encourage and support the international mobility of researchers, inside and outside Europe. A gateway to attractive research careers in Europe, which includes big names in research, worldwide.

The EURAXESS portal provides a single point of access to information, and services that provide support to researchers and their families when moving, within the scope of their career, to, outside or within Europe.

The mission is to support the international mobility of researchers to and from Portugal, becoming a part of the European network of national Euraxess portals that supplement with European information the European portal, operated by the European Commission. The EURAXESS Portugal portal intends to gradually replace the ERACareers portal.

The EURAXESS Portugal portal is operated by the Foundation for Science and Technology, the Portuguese Government agency whose mission is to assess and finance the Science and Technology sector.

EURAXESS encompasses, in its various aspects, namely:

  • EURAXESS Jobs A free recruitment tool Currently, the Eracareers Portal presents all opportunities for scholarships and / or scientific jobs available in Portugal  
  • EURAXESS Rights Provides all information regarding the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers  
  • EURAXESS Links A device, where interactive electronic services are created for European researchers who are working abroad, in order to keep them in touch.  
  • EURAXESS Services EURAXESS Services is a network of more than 200 centers, spread across 38 countries across Europe. As a researcher, you can obtain support from these centers to plan and organize your stay and your family's stay. Assistance extends to all areas related to your personal and professional activity, including information on legal issues, social security, health care and finance, as well as opportunities for language training and family support in your daily life. The aim is to facilitate the social and professional integration of these researchers, as well as their families (if they accompany you during your stay), allowing them to minimize the resources spent on bureaucratic and procedural issues.
 

HORIZON 2020 - European Union Research and Innovation Program, 2014 - 2020

Horizon 2020 is the European Union's research and innovation funding program, with approximately € 80 billion available to run between 2014 and 2020. The program, in addition to attracting private investment, aims to develop the best discoveries and innovations in the world, bringing great ideas from the laboratory to the market.

With simplified rules and management tools for sending and granting, it aims to facilitate the tasks of the participants. For more practical guidance, please refer to the H2020 online manual.

The H2020 offers support to SMEs with an instrument that covers several fields of research and funded innovations, providing SMEs with excellent opportunities.

The program also aims to improve the EU's international research cooperation, creating more opportunities for participation by third countries.

H2020 was created within the main challenges of our day to day, from social changes, through the aging of the population, through food security, energy efficiency, the EU attaches great importance to the incorporation of socio-economic sciences and humanities in the work program . In addition to these, another major priority for the European Commission (EC) is to ensure that gender is incorporated into the construction of Horizon 2020 project proposals.
