Isolated Curricular Units
The University of Algarve allows the attendance of Isolated Curricular Units within the study plans of undergraduate, master, doctorate, postgraduate course and higher professional technical courses (CTeSP)
Who can apply?
- UAlg students wishing to attend modules that are not part of their study plan
- Any interested persons over 17 years of age who are not students of UAlg and who have knowledge and skills appropriate to the level of education they wish to attend
Limits applied to students’ ability to frequent isolated curricular units
- Students enrolled in a UAlg study cycle can apply for UCI attendance in other UAlg study cycles, of the same degree, within the following limits:
a) Up to 60 ECTS in each academic year
b) Up to 50% of the ECTS required for a given cycle of studies, as long as they do not exceed 60 ECTS for that cycle
c) Up to 78 ECTS, across all modules in which they enroll, in their study cycle and in the other study cycles, as long as it does not contravene the provisions of a)
A student enrolled in a cycle of studies who required up to 30 ECTS to complete the cycle may enroll in an ah-hoc module for a cycle of studies of an immediately higher degree, however, they may not enroll in more than 60 ECTS in the set of study cycles.
- Candidates not enrolled in UAlg study cycles can apply, as external students, to attend ah-hoc modules within the following limits:
a) Up to 60 ECTS in each academic year
b) Up to 50% of the ECTS required for a given cycle of studies, as long as they do not exceed 60 ECTS for that cycle
c) If they already attend a different UAlg study cycle, respecting the provisions of the previous paragraphs
Note: Only modules with vacancies available will be considered

Fees and Emoluments
Registration fee and insurance
- 25 Euros
Fees:
- Modules within higher professional technical courses, degrees and 1st cycle of integrated master's degrees: 30 Euros per ECTS
- Modules within postgraduate, master's and 2nd cycle of integrated master's degrees: 40 Euros per ECTS
- Course units for doctoral courses: 50 Euros per ECTS
Payment Dates
- Only enrolled in the 1st semester and annual ad-hoc modules: 1st installment upon registration and 2nd installment on 31st October
- Only enrolled in the 2nd semester ad-hoc module: 1st installment upon registration and 2nd installment on 28th February
- Enrolled in 1st semester, annual and 2nd semester ad-hoc modules: 1st installment upon registration, 2nd installment on 31st October, 3rd installment on 31st January and 4th installment on 28th February
Failing to attend individual modules after registration does not exempt internal/external students from paying the full fee and does not confer the right to a refund of any amounts paid previously.
