• Titulares de, pelo menos, um diploma de 1.º ciclo (licenciatura), ou de um ciclo de estudos integrado, no caso de cursos de Mestrado Integrado, de acordo com as seguintes condições: 
  - Ser detentor de licenciatura ou mestrado integrado nas áreas de ciências da natureza, ciências da saúde e afins ou ciências exatas, com classificação final mínima de 14 valores;
  - As competências associadas à formação académica anterior devem permitir a creditação de um mínimo de 120 ECTS, de acordo com o Quadro n.º 1 em anexo ao Aviso n.º 15278/2024/2, de 24 de julho, publicado no Diário da República, n.º 142, 2.ª série: DR224-001-00004-317874525-142_15278_2024_2.pdf (diariodarepublica.pt)
  - Em caso de grau académico obtido no estrangeiro, é obrigatória a apresentação de comprovativo de obtenção de equivalência legal de habilitações estrangeiras pela DGES ou por uma universidade portuguesa, de acordo com o Decreto-Lei n.º 66/2018, de 16 de agosto, com as alterações introduzidas pelo Decreto-Lei n.º 86/2023, de 10 de outubro e da Portaria n.º 33/2019, de 22 de maio, com as alterações introduzidas pela Portaria n.º 43/2020, de 14 de fevereiro (https://www.dges.gov.pt/pt/pagina/reconhecimento).

The submission of the application implies the reading of the application and selection regulations for the integrated study cycle leading to a master's degree in Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of UAlg. 

Each year, the Assessment and Selection Committee (defined in Article 7 of the aforementioned regulation) analyses the individual processes of the applicants and proceeds with the accreditation of competences in accordance with Table No. 1 of Notice No. 13242/2019 published in the DR, 2nd series-No. 160, 22 August 2019

1.ª Fase de seleção

Avaliação de Aptidões Cognitivas

A primeira etapa do processo de seleção inclui um conjunto de provas de aptidões cognitivas. Estas provas serão asseguradas por uma entidade externa especializada neste tipo de avaliação, que trabalhará em estreita colaboração com a Universidade do Algarve.

As provas de aptidões cognitivas visam avaliar o raciocínio numérico, raciocínio verbal e raciocínio abstrato

Os candidatos que obtenham classificação inferior a 10,0 pontos em qualquer um dos domínios avaliados na prova de aptidões cognitivas, ficam automaticamente excluídos da segunda etapa de seriação.

Serão atribuídos os seguintes pontos de bonificação:

GA = Grau académico, em que os detentores de grau de mestre (incluindo mestrado integrado) serão pontuados com 5 pontos adicionais e os detentores de grau de doutor terão 10 pontos adicionais. Aos detentores de mestrado e doutoramento apenas será adicionada a bonificação mais elevada, i.e. a correspondente ao doutoramento;

M = Média de licenciatura ou mestrado integrado com que se apresenta a concurso, sendo que para média igual ou superior a 17 valores serão atribuídos 5 pontos adicionais;

UAlg = Os candidatos com licenciatura, mestrado integrado, mestrado ou doutoramento realizado na UAlg serão pontuados com 2 pontos adicionais. Esta bonificação apenas se aplica uma vez;

Vol = aos candidatos com participação em ações de voluntariado, com duração igual ou superior a 12 meses, serão adicionados 5 pontos. É condição necessária uma periodicidade semanal mínima de 1h/semana;

EP = aos candidatos que tenham experiência profissional, com duração igual ou superior a 6 meses a tempo integral, serão adicionados 3 pontos.

As pontuações referentes aos itens GA, M, UAlg, Vol e EP só poderão ser contabilizadas mediante a apresentação de comprovativo passado pela entidade competente.

Por voluntariado entende-se o disposto no artigo 2.º da Lei n.º 71/98, de 3 de novembro. Para efeito de candidatura, apenas são consideradas ações de voluntariado que envolvam contacto direto e prolongado com grupos sociais vulneráveis em condições adversas. Não são aceites as seguintes ações:

• Participação em grupos de Escuteiros;
• Participação no Banco Alimentar contra a Fome;
• Catequese;
• Participação em Rastreios;
• Participação em Colónias de Férias;
• Explicações ou apoio escolar;
• Participação em ações de formação ou sensibilização;
• Atividades de gestão.

Não serão considerados como voluntariado ou experiência profissional quaisquer ações realizadas no âmbito de formação académica anterior.

A classificação, para efeitos de seriação será calculada segundo a fórmula:
CS = Pa + GA + M + UAlg + Vol + EP
em que:

• CS = classificação de seriação, arredondada às décimas;
• Pa = classificação na prova de aptidões cognitivas, expressa numa escala de 1 a 99 pontos arredondada às décimas. 
• GA, M, UAlg, Vol, EP, bonificações apuradas na candidatura.

Em caso de empate serão considerados os seguintes critérios de desempate, pela ordem que se apresentam:

• Classificação na prova de aptidões cognitivas, arredondada às décimas;
• Data e hora da formalização da candidatura, sendo que passa o candidato que tenha submetido a candidatura completa mais cedo.
• Esgotados os critérios e mantendo-se o empate, os candidatos empatados passam à segunda etapa de seriação.
   

2.ª Fase de seleção

Conjunto de Minientrevistas

A segunda etapa no processo de seleção consiste na realização de um conjunto de minientrevistas múltiplas ou estações, na presença de um ou mais avaliadores. Poderá ainda estar presente um observador.

As estações das minientrevistas focam diferentes temas, que podem ser apresentados como uma pergunta, cenário, entrevista, ou questionário, tendo como objetivo avaliar competências específicas do candidato.

Método de classificação da 2.ª fase 

No final da entrevista o(s) avaliador(es) atribuirá uma cotação ao candidato de acordo com uma grelha específica para aquela estação.

No final desta etapa cada candidato terá uma classificação que corresponde à média (arredondada às décimas) das classificações obtidas no conjunto das estações das minientrevistas.

No caso de haver empate para o último lugar disponível, serão considerados os seguintes critérios de desempate, pela ordem que se apresentam:

• Classificação na prova de aptidões cognitivas, arredondada às décimas;

• Classificação final da licenciatura ou mestrado integrado com que se apresenta a concurso.

• Data e hora da formalização da candidatura, sendo que passa o candidato que tenha submetido a candidatura completa mais cedo.

Please be advised that applicants with accepted candidacies must pay an admission fee of 175 euros to be admitted to the first phase of the selection process for the Integrated Master’s Degree in Medicine for the 2026/27 academic year.

Eligible candidates will receive an email notification in the coming days with the necessary payment instructions. Payment will only be available between March 10th and 13th, 2026.

Yes, if you meet all the application requirements, are fluent in Portuguese, have a degree recognised in Portugal and are not covered by the international student status.

No, students with international status can only apply for a specific quota, which does not exist for applications to the Integrated Master's in Medicine at the University of the Algarve.

To apply for the Integrated Master in Medicine at the University of Algarve, you need a minimum of 14 points out of 20 in your Bachelor’s degree (1st cycle) or Integrated Master (1st + 2nd cycles). The master's degree (2nd cycle) awards two (2) bonus points in the first phase of ranking applicants. Applicants with a final mark of 13 out of 20 are also accepted, provided that they have a minimum of five years of professional experience in the area of their bachelor’s or master's degree.

Any degree in the area of health sciences, exact sciences or natural sciences will be accepted as long as the curricular plan of the degree or integrated master's degree allows the accreditation of 120 ECTS. Do not forget that for your application to be valid you will have to fulfil all the requirements of the application and selection regulations.

No, the Integrated Master's Degree in Medicine at the University of Algarve does not accept transfers; it is a course exclusively for post-graduates, that is, it only accepts applicants who already have a degree or an integrated master's degree, regardless of whether they are attending a course in medicine in Portugal or abroad. If you have a previous degree, you can apply like any other applicant and your application will be accepted if you meet the requirements of the application and selection regulations.

No. As specified in article 3, paragraph 5 of the application and selection regulation: "The date to be considered for the purpose of fulfiling the application requirements corresponds to the last day of the deadline for the formalisation of applications."

Yes. What the regulation requires is that applicants have a minimum of 6 months of professional experience or a minimum of 12 months of volunteering. If you fulfil the requirement for professional experience and have at least two months of volunteering on your CV, this volunteering serves as a bonus in the first stage of ranking.”

As the application and selection regulation specifies, in Article 3, paragraph 4c: "For the purposes of applying, only voluntary actions that involve continuous and prolonged contact with vulnerable social groups in adverse conditions are accepted..." Volunteering can be done in more than one institution and the duration counted by the sum of periods in the various institutions. When submitting the application, the certificate of each volunteering period/institution must be presented, explicitly stating the start and end date of the volunteering, as well as the activities carried out in that institution. There is no expiry date for volunteering done, so volunteering done five years ago would be valid, for example.”

During the entire application and selection process, all results will be published on the website dedicated to the course. There will be no other type of disclosure, so the consequences of the lack of consultation are the sole responsibility of the applicants.

You probably forgot to pay the admission fee for the selection tests. The admission of applicants to the first phase of the selection process is subject to the mandatory payment of a registration fee, to be fixed annually by the Rector of UAlg, on a proposal from the scientific committee of the DCBM, in order to bear the costs of the selection process and inherent administrative expenses. The first stage of the selection process consists of a set of tests of cognitive skills and a test of knowledge of the English language. The cognitive skills tests will assess the following skills: numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning and abstract reasoning.

The second step in the selection process will consist of a set of 10 to 12 multiple mini-interviews or stations of 8 minutes each.

No. The interviews can be about generic medical topics as well as any other topic. No specific knowledge of medicine is needed to successfully do the interviews.

The tests for the first selection phase (cognitive aptitude tests) are held on the same day at the University of Algarve, Gambelas Campus, Faro.

The tests for the second selection phase (mini-interviews) are held at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the Gambelas Campus of the University of Algarve at a later date.

No. Videoconferencing is not feasible for these interviews, as they can consist of a “classic” interview between applicant and interviewer, but they can also be presented as a scenario in which you will have to interact with other people and/or objects.

At the end of the interview, the interviewer/observer will give each applicant a mark according to a specific grid for that station. At the end of the mini-interviews, each applicant will have a rating that corresponds to the arithmetic average (rounded up to tenths) of the ratings obtained across all stations.

The prerequisites required to apply for enrolment and registration in higher education in the 2022-2023 academic year are set out in Resolution no. 379/2022, published in the Diário da República on 25 March 2022 (see here).
