Overview

The Postgraduate Diploma in Specialized Multimedia Translation - Tourism and Legal Variants aims to provide students with degrees in languages and related areas with specialized studies in two aspects of specialized translation: Tourism and Legal.

The main objective of this training offer is to combine technical and scientific knowledge with practical market experience in the areas in question. To this end, it counts on the participation of specialist partners in the tourism sector, such as ESGHT, Turismo do Algarve, among others, and partnerships in the legal area, such as the Southern Bar Association, the University of Granada (through the ERASMUS+ protocol), professionals from the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission, in addition to other reputable partners with extensive experience and know-how in the field.

The training will be divided into two variants, aligned with the reality of the regional and national market. In the tourism variant, several aspects will be addressed, such as the hotel industry, promotion of the region, organization of national and international events, among other related topics. In the Legal aspect, the international relations existing in the region will be addressed, including the implementation of programs, partnerships, support to the courts, legal professionals and the real estate market.

In addition, the training will cover new trends in the use of advanced technologies, providing training in computer-assisted translation.

Objectives

  • To provide a set of key competences for future specialised translation professionals (familiarisation with up-to-date information and terminologies of the areas of expertise covered in the course, both in the mother tongue (LA) and in languages B and C
  • Develop innovative projects in the areas of multimedia specialised translation (audiovisual, technical and scientific)

Operating Mode

Teaching languages: Portuguese, English, French and Spanish

This postgraduate program operates in the distance learning modality, with a combination of synchronous and asynchronous moments. In the last week of the 1st and 2nd semester, assessments may be face-to-face.

Timetable: Thursdays and Fridays, from 18h00 to 23h00 and/or Saturdays from 9h00 to 13h00

The curriculum of this course integrates the guidelines defined by the "European Norm for Translation Services of the CEN - Comité Européen de Normalisation" of May 2006 - EN15038:2006.

Note: The  tuition of this course can be paid in 10 installments, being the first at the time of registration and the remaining in the months of October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May and June.
