Overview
The Postgraduate Degree in Humanitarian Action aims to prepare in a professional way humanitarian agents to support the affected populations, quickly, efficiently and effectively, seeking the maximum benefit from humanitarian assistance, based on international standards and norms. The specificity of the teaching and training of humanitarian agents, should be recognized as important and necessary, because it is she who ensures professionals, a set of knowledge that prepares them for the functions they will perform.

Objectives

  • Develop professional skills to critically analyse humanitarian action and work effectively in humanitarian and development fields.
  • To prepare professionals or future professionals to deal with humanitarian responses.
  • To save lives, alleviate suffering and preserve human dignity during and after crises, as well as prevent and strengthen response capacity for when such situations occur.

Operating Mode

The postgraduate sessions are held fortnightly, Saturdays between 9am - 6pm.

The course is organized in 160 hours of theoretical practice (34 hours of Problem Based Learning; 29 hours of practice; 46 hours of theoretical practice; 51 hours of seminars), 40 hours of tutorial guidance, 256 hours of autonomous student work, in a total of 456 hours, with a total of 16 ECTS.

Tuition and Fees 2022/2023

National Students: 1250 Euros

International Students*: 2000 Euros

Application Fee: 50 Euros

Registration Fee and School Insurance: 150 Euros

Note: The  tuition of this course can be paid in 10 installments, being the first at the time of registration and the remaining in the months of October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May and June.

* in accordance with Decree-Law No. 36/2014, changed by Decree-Law No.62/2018, of 6th August, international students are nationals of a country which is not a Member State of the European Union and are not a legally resident in Portugal for more than 2 uninterrupted years by 1st of January of the enrolment year
