Candidates will be considered to be admissible to the PhD program if they comply with one of the following conditions:
a) Possess an MSc degree or the legal equivalent.
b) Possess a BSc degree and have a demonstrated career track with relevant scientific and educational track-record that is recognised by the Scientific Council to demonstrate that the applicant has the necessary capacity to carry out a PhD;
C) Possess an educational, scientific or professional career that is recognised by the Scientific Council to demonstrate that the applicant has the necessary capacity to carry out a PhD.
The recognition by the scientific council of the applicants capacity in lines b) and c) are only applicable for the access to the specific program leading to a PhD degree and do not confer legal recognition or confer the title of BSc or MSc that is covered by a specific legal procedure.
Candidates will be selected for admission to the PhD program on the basis of:
a) The applicants academic and scientific curriculum vitae
b) The applicants final classification in their MSc and/or BSc
c) Documented evidence of the applicants professional and/or research experience
Candidates should formalise their application by submitting it to the Scientific Council of the Faculty that hosts the PhD program, using the on-line platform. The application should include the following documents:
a) A motivation letter explaining why they are applying for the PhD program
b) The diplomas of their Academic degrees (MSc and BSc)
c) An up-to-date CV
d) Identification of the scientific area within the program they will follow.
e) A declaration of acceptance from their supervisors (one of which should be a staff member of the Universidade do Algarve).
f) The workplan for their PhD project, countersigned by the candidate and their supervisors.
g) Proof of payment of the fee for application of 100 Euros.
