The Master in Mathematics for Teachers is mainly directed to basic and secondary Mathematics Teachers.
The structure of this master is divided in 4 semesters with a total of 120 ECTS. The former year is composed with classes from the curricular part, while the latter is dedicated to dissertation. The dissertation will be supervised by the professors of the Department of Mathematics. This course will be taught in a mixed schedule regime, day and/or evening classes, being the schedule combined between the students and the professors.
The general objectives of this Master are:
Provide a way to deepen the knowledge in Mathematics, enhancing the ability to understand and solve problems in new situations or multidisciplinary contexts, either in research or in some other professional activity.
Create skills that allow an autonomous learning throughout life.
Seek to develop and deepen knowledge about the evolution of the fundamental concepts of mathematics, as well as the ability to deal with complex issues, develop solutions and make judgments in situations of limited or incomplete information, including judgments on the implications and ethical and social responsibilities that result from those solutions.
Upgrade and improve skills and knowledge, enabling the creation of keen modifications in teaching practices, and giving strategies to prepare to deal expeditiously with any possible program changes and/or new educational methodologies.
