Conditions of access
The conditions for admission to this cycle of studies are set out in Decree-Law N.º 9A/2025 of 14 February:
1) Oral and written proficiency in Portuguese and mastery of the essential rules of logical and critical argumentation (Article 17(1) of Decree-Law N.º 9A/2025), to be demonstrated during the application process.
2) Hold a higher education qualification (Decree-Law 74/2006) and have obtained, either as part of their academic qualification or inother higher education study cycles, 120 ECTS in the scientific area of mathematics.
3) Holders of a higher academic qualification (Decree-Law 74/2006) who have obtained at least 75% of the credits in the scientific areaof mathematics may also apply for admission to this course.Enrolment in the specific teaching and professional practice initiation course units, including supervised teaching practice, may occursimultaneously with the obtaining of the missing credits. It is up to the legally competent body of the higher education institution to decidewhich course units of the training components provided for in subparagraphs a), b) and c) of paragraph 1 of Article 15 that candidatesmust attend in order to obtain the credits necessary for the award of a master's degree.
Criteria for selection of the candidates
Candidates will be ranked in accordance with Decree-Law 9-A/2025:
1. Candidates with a degree in mathematics, with 120 ECTS, in the scientific area of mathematics.
2. Candidates with a degree in Mathematics, without 120 ECTS in the scientific area of mathematics, but who have obtained theremaining ECTS in the scientific area of mathematics in other courses.
3. Candidates with another degree, with 120 ECTS in the scientific area of mathematics obtained in various courses.
4. Candidates with a degree, and with at least 90 ECTS in the scientific area of mathematics.
In each priority, candidates will be ranked according to their degree classification. In the event of a tie, the scores from the oral and written Portuguese language proficiency tests and the mastery of essential rules of logical and written argumentation will be considered.
For candidates who do not meet the minimum ECTS requirement in the scientific field of mathematics (registered in the Diário da República), the process must be sent to the FCT Scientific Council and a statement must be issued with the number of ECTS recognized as belonging to the scientific field of mathematics.
Necessary documentation
Certificate of qualification, with a breakdown of the grades obtained in each curricular unit. Proof of holding a bachelor's degree.
Copy of ID card/citizen card.
Curriculum Vitae (with personal, academic, and professional details).
Proof of payment of the registration fee.
