Conditions of access

Admission Requirements for Candidates:
Candidates may apply for the study program leading to the Doctorate in Media and Digital Art under the following conditions:
a) Holders of a bachelor's degree, or equivalent (or higher) qualification, in digital art, multimedia art, performing arts, art education, digital design, music technologies, computer science, and multimedia, digital communication may apply for the "Communication, Culture, and Arts" (CCA) track, provided that the candidate is recognized for technological-artistic capacity for the completion of the research project. Holders of a bachelor's degree, or equivalent (or higher) qualification, in digital art, multimedia art, digital design, music technologies, computer engineering and multimedia, digital communication, or related fields, may apply for the "Computing, Technology, and Arts" (CTA) track, provided that the candidate is recognized for technological-artistic capacity for the completion of the research project.
b) Candidates must have a particularly relevant educational/scientific/artistic background recognized by the Scientific Council of the University of Algarve as attesting to technological-artistic capacity for doctoral studies.
c) Exceptionally, individuals with an educational, scientific, or professional artistic background recognized by the Scientific Council of the University of Algarve as attesting to the capacity for doctoral studies.

Criteria for selection of the candidates

Selection Criteria for Candidates
 The ranking of candidates will be based on the following elements, with specifications and weighting to be defined:
a) Academic qualifications, based on the obtained grade, with a weighting of 60% in the final evaluation.
b) Quality and extent of the artistic and scientific portfolio, scored from 0 to 20 points, with a weighting factor of 30%.
c) Professional curriculum, scored from 0 to 20 points, weighing 10%.

Necessary documentation

Interested parties should formalize their application through the online form, duly filled out, and the following documents should be uploaded:
• Academic transcripts, including a history of courses (proof of degree status). For foreign qualifications, a certified certificate must be provided, and duly authenticated by the consulate/embassy.
• Copy of ID card/passport• Curriculum Vitae (including personal, academic, and professional details)
• Proof of payment of the 100 Euro application fee.
