Overview
The Master’s Degree in Animation at the School of Education and Communication of the University of Algarve establishes itself as a specialized educational offering in the field of animation, integrating a strong research component combined with creative practice. Developed within the context of public higher education, this program stands out for its geographical flexibility and its pedagogical model with a strong online presence, enabling access for students from different regions. The institutional complementarity that underpins this master’s program represents a strategic opportunity for the development of joint projects, both practical and research-oriented. This ecosystem results from the collaboration of a highly qualified academic staff, including PhD holders and researchers from different higher education institutions, fostering the growth in student numbers, strengthening expertise in the field, and optimizing human, technical, and technological resources. This master’s program also promotes the creation of a unique professional network within the country, encouraging the retention of talent outside major urban centers. Through this dynamic, it aims to stimulate the creation and development of animation studios in the regions covered by the consortium, contributing to decentralization and the strengthening of the creative sector at a national level. Additionally, students benefit from opportunities to integrate into entrepreneurship and innovation support structures, namely at the UAlg Tec hubs — a business accelerator — and CRIA — a business incubator — thereby reinforcing the connection between academic training and the business ecosystem.
