Overview

Objectives

The main objectives of this Master’s programme are to provide students with the acquisition and/or deepening of knowledge in the fields of corporate finance and financial markets. The programme has been designed for those who intend to pursue a career in the financial industry, namely in commercial and investment banking, portfolio and risk management, financial management, and financial consultancy. 

Please be advised that this course is fully taught in Portuguese; as such, this Master Program is not appropriate for students who do not have a perfect command of the Portuguese language. 

Operating Mode

As a rule, classes are delivered remotely (online) on Thursdays from 18:30 to 22:00; face-to-face on Fridays from 18:30 to 22:00; and on Saturdays from 09:30 to 13:00. Assessments may take place on other days of the week. The assessment calendar will be made available at the beginning of the academic year.

Academic Staff

The Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve has its own academic staff with high-level qualifications across various disciplinary areas relevant to the Master’s in Finance. Many of our lecturers are members of the Centre for Advanced Studies in Management and Economics (CEFAGE), a research centre evaluated by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.
In addition, we collaborate with a number of Professors from the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism of the University of Algarve, as well as from other nationally recognised and prestigious institutions. 
 

Tuition and Fees 2026/2027

National Students: 

first year curriculum: 2250€

other curricular year: 1000€

International Students*:  

first year curriculum: 2250€

other curricular year: 1750€

Application Fee: 50 Euros **

Registration Fee and School Insurance: 175 Euros

Note: The  tuition of this course can be paid in 10 installments, being the first at the time of registration and the remaining in the months of October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May and June.

* in accordance with Decree-Law No. 36/2014, changed by Decree-Law No.62/2018, of 6th August, international students are nationals of a country which is not a Member State of the European Union and are not a legally resident in Portugal for more than 2 uninterrupted years by 1st of January of the enrolment year

** - The application fee must be paid within a maximum of 2 days

Merit Scholarships

For the upcoming academic year, Merit Scholarships will be made available by the Faculty for the most outstanding candidates enrolling in the program. Merit Scholarships will only cover the program tuition fee. All conditions for awarding Merit Scholarships are provided in the "Regulation for the Award of Merit Scholarships".

For almost two decades, the Master’s in Finance has been training professionals who assume technical and managerial responsibilities across a wide range of public and private sector organisations.
