Conditions of access

a) holders of a master's degree or legal equivalent; 
b) holders of a bachelor's degree, with an academic or scientific curriculum, especially relevant and that is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this studies’ cycle by the statutorily competent scientific body of the establishment of higher education where the candidate wants to be admitted; 
c) holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, which is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this studies’ cycle by the statutorily competent scientific body of the higher education establishment where the candidate wants to be admitted. 
The recognition referred to in paragraphs b) and c) is only admissible to access the studies’ cycle leading to the PhD degree and does not confer its holder the equivalence to a master's or bachelor degree nor the recognition of these degrees.

Specific conditions:
a) Holders of a master's degree or legal equivalent in scientific areas in the field of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, such as Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, Rural Engineering, Environmental Sciences and Ecology, Environmental Engineering, Animal Science, Food Sciences, Biodiversity and Conservation or others, accepted by the Course Committee. 
b) Holders of a bachelor's degree, obtained prior to the implementation of the Bologna process and provided that they hold a particularly relevant academic or scientific curriculum and that is recognized as attesting to the capacity to carry out of this cycle of studies by the statutorily competent scientific body of the higher education establishment where you intend to be admitted; 
c) Fluency in Portuguese and/or English, spoken and written, is required. In case of doubt, the jury may call the candidate for an interview. Failure to meet this criterion leads to the candidate's non-admission.

Criteria for selection of the candidates

a)       Literary qualifications: 50% 
-    Qualifications area: 50% 
-    Weighted average (1st cycle and 2nd cycle qualifications, the weighting being based on the ECTS completed in each cycle): 50% 


b)     Curriculum analysis: 50% 
-    Scientific publications: 40% 
-    Participation in research projects and activities: 20% 
-    Communications at congresses: 20%
-    Training in transversal skills: 10% 
-    Professional training in the area of the course or similar: 10%

Necessary documentation

1.    Candidates must formalize their application to the Scientific Council on the online platform 
2.    The application must be accompanied by the following elements: 
a)    Motivation letter;
b)    Certificate of Academic Qualifications;
c)    Updated Curriculum vitae, including a list of published works or duly documented;
d)    Indication of the branch of knowledge and/or specialty, if applicable;
e)    Supervisor(s) opinion;
f)    Proposed research work plan, signed by the candidate and supervisor(s).
g)    Proof of payment of the application fee, in the amount of 100 Euros.
