Conditions of access

Access and admission are governed by the provisions of Article 30(1) of Decree-Law No. 74/06 of March 24, as amended by Decree-Laws No. 107/08 of June 25, 230/2009 of September 14, and 65/2018 of August 16, as follows: 
a) Holders of a master's degree or equivalent legal qualification; 
b) Holders of a bachelor's degree with a school or scientific curriculum of particular relevance, recognized by the scientific committee of the organic unit as demonstrating the capacity to undertake this program;
c) Individuals with a school, scientific, or professional curriculum recognized by the scientific committee of the organic unit as demonstrating the capacity to undertake this course of study; 
d) In addition to the provisions of the legislation mentioned in point 1 of this article, students enrolled in other pre- or post-Bologna Doctoral Programs at this institution or at other national or foreign institutions, according to their own regulations, may also join this doctoral program.

The recognition referred to in points b) and c) has the sole effect of granting access to the doctoral program and does not confer on the holder equivalence to a bachelor's or master's degree, or their recognition.

Criteria for selection of the candidates

The candidates will be ranked according to the following criteria: 
a) Academic and scientific curriculum;
b) Master's or Bachelor's degree grade;
c) Professional or research experience.

Necessary documentation

At the time of application, the submission of the following documents is mandatory, without which the application will not be considered valid:
a) Proof of academic qualifications; 
b) Updated curriculum vitae, including a list of published or properly documented works; 
c) Indication of the supervisor(s) and their acceptance terms; 
d) Research work plan proposed, endorsed by candidate and supervisor(s), and approved by the research center where the work will be carried out, if applicable; 
e) Copy of the scholarship award document or the application for a scholarship, if applicable, or any other form of institutional funding.
