Overview
The Master in Marine Biodiversity, Fisheries and Conservation is the first professional master's degree in this area in Portugal. This master's degree is geared towards the promotion of lifelong learning and is born out of the need to promote in the labour market, professionals with knowledge and technical skills in areas linked to the management of the marine and coastal environment and the use of scientific information to ensure sustainable development and the conservation of species and habitats for the benefit of humanity and the balance of ecosystems.

Objectives

  • To develop skills that help professional progression and innovation in areas involving the use of biological and oceanographic information for the understanding, management and conservation of marine biodiversity and its interactions with fisheries and global change
  • To respond to needs and gaps in experience identified by employers in these areas and in regions with which the University of Algarve has links, partnerships and research projects
  • To focus on conservation measures and sustainable management of marine biodiversity exploitation activities, conservation, mitigation and restoration of threatened marine species and habitats, and integration of predictions of climate change effects and other environmental changes

Tuition and Fees 2022/2023

National Students: 697 Euros

International Students*: 4000 Euros

Application Fee: 50 Euros

Registration Fee and School Insurance: 175 Euros

Note: The  tuition of this course can be paid in 10 installments, being the first at the time of registration and the remaining in the months of October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May and June.

* in accordance with Decree-Law No. 36/2014, changed by Decree-Law No.62/2018, of 6th August, international students are nationals of a country which is not a Member State of the European Union and are not a legally resident in Portugal for more than 2 uninterrupted years by 1st of January of the enrolment year
