Maria Teresa Dinis receives scientific merit medal

 
Maria Teresa Dinis, researcher at the Centre for Marine Sciences in the Algarve (CCMAR) and Professor Emeritus at the University of Algarve, was distinguished on 3 November with the Medal of Scientific Merit, at the ceremony of the Encontro Ciência'20.​​​​​​

The researcher was highlighted for the importance of her research in the area of Aquaculture in Portugal and for her active role in the development of marine sciences in the Algarve, in particular through the founding of the CCMAR. 

Teresa Dinis, who is still active, sees this medal as recognition of her work and her vast and hihgly-regarded scientific career.

Medals of scientific merit are intended to reward Portuguese or foreign individuals who, due to their high professional qualities and the fulfilment of their duty, have distinguished themselves for their valuable and exceptional contribution to the development of science or scientific culture in Portugal.

The annual meeting of researchers, which takes place on the 3rd and 4th of November, in Lisbon, is promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology in collaboration with Ciência Viva - National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture and the Parliamentary Commission for Education and Science, and has the institutional support of the Government, through the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education.
