UAlg joins the Algarve Collaborative Research Network on Aging

On October 28, World Senior Citizens Day is celebrated. In order to mark this date, the memorandum of understanding that created the Algarve Collaborative Research Network on Aging (RAICE) was signed in the meeting room at the Faculty of Economics.

The founding entities of this network are the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve, the Municipality of Faro, through the Office for the Support of the Elderly, the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve, the University of the Algarve for the Elderly and the Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense.

It is an innovative network in the Algarve region, which aims to develop collaborative projects of scientific and technological research, of a multidisciplinary nature, on various themes related to aging.

The founders of this network are committed to promoting scientific research that contributes to the development of public policies and professional practices that effectively promote friendly societies of all ages and the quality of life for all, particularly older people.

It should be noted that one of the central concerns of this network is to give voice to older people, meeting the challenge recently launched by António Guterres (Secretary General of the United Nations) of “listening to the voices of older people, suggestions and ideas for build more inclusive and friendly societies of all ages ”.
