In Ecohydrology: Water for ecosystems and societies


The University of Algarve was awarded the UNESCO Chair in Ecohydrology: Water for ecosystems and societies.

The University of Algarve is one of the 48 Universities worldwide with a UNESCO chair in the water area.

The aim of the Chair is to support the implementation of the United Nations Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and to contribute to the objectives of the UNESCO International Hydrological Program: "Water Security: Responses to Local, Regional, and Global Challenges", Theme 5 "Ecohydrology, engineering harmony for a sustainable world".

The UNESCO Chair at the University of Algarve is coordinated by Professor Luis Chicharo, from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Algarve, and coordinates a network of 16 Universities from all regions of the World.
