ORDER RT.131 / 2020

Subject matter:  Entry times at Campi of the University of Algarve - revocation of orders RT 127/2020 and RT 128/2020

Through orders RT.127 / 2020 and RT.128 / 2020, from 18 and 20 November, changes were made to the opening hours of the libraries and canteen, with adjustment of the entrance times in the Campi of the University of Algarve.

The declaration of a state of emergency was renewed by Decree of the President of the Republic No. 59-A / 2020, of 20 November, for an additional period of 15 days.

As a result, Decree No. 9/2020, of 21 November, placing the municipalities of Faro and Portimão on the list of high-risk municipalities, readjust the intensity of the measures referring to the state of emergency and combating the pandemic COVID-19, changing the assumptions for the issuance of Dispatches RT.127 / 2020 and RT.128 / 2020.

The aforementioned Decree grants point tolerance on November 30 and December 7, 2020, and establishes a ban on the daily movement of citizens on the public road between 11 pm and 5 am, providing for a general duty of home collection in the remaining hours, without prejudice to the exceptions set forth therein.

In view of the need to conform to the provisions set out in Decree No. 9/2020, of 21 November, and in the use of the powers conferred on me by paragraphs 1) and 1) and 2 of article 33 of the Statutes of the University of Algarve, I determine:

  1. The revocation of Dispatches RT.127 / 2020 and RT.128 / 2020.
  2. The return to the normal opening hours of the canteen of Campus da Penha, on Saturday.
  3. The return to the normal opening hours of the Libraries of Campus de Gambelas and Campus da Penha, on Saturday.
  4. With the exception of the regular operation of courses on a nightly basis, entry to Campi at the University of Algarve is conditioned at night, as well as on Sundays and on point tolerance days, with the gates closing at the following times:

Monday to Friday - from 11 pm;

Sundays and Holidays - Closed;

Point Tolerance of 11/30 and 12/7 - Closed.

  1. The following are excluded from the restriction of access to Campuses:
    1. entry authorization holders, namely teachers and researchers with ongoing research trials;
    2. IT Services workers, in the event of the need for urgent intervention in UAlg data centers;
    3. workers assigned to the AD-ABC (Algarve Biomedical Center) laboratory, Gambelas Campus;
    4. workers and users with scheduled audiology, speech therapy and psychology appointments, Gambelas Campus;
    5. workers at incubated companies (CRIA), Gambelas Campus;
    6. workers assigned to the contracts and / or subcontracting ongoing at the Gambelas Campus (UAlg Tec Health, Reformulation of outdoor spaces, LEOA and Photobioreactor Park) and at the Penha Campus (UAlg Tec Campus and Installation of Photovoltaic Panels) and others that come to be carried out during the application of these guidelines;
    7. Essential Public Service workers.
  2. In view of the granting of point tolerance to workers who exercise public functions on November 30 and December 7, 2020, teaching and non-teaching and training activities are suspended during this period.
    1. In the tolerances of time, there is no obligation to replace the scheduled classes, summarizing “suspended teaching activity, in compliance with Decree No. 9/2020, of 21 November”, without prejudice to the academic activities considered indispensable to fulfill the objectives of the respective UC can be rescheduled for other dates, in person or remotely.
  3. The teaching or evaluation activities scheduled for November 28 and December 5 (Saturday) may take place, considering the exceptions to the ban on movement between municipalities set out in Article 11 of Decree No. 9/2020, namely:
    1. For the performance of professional or equivalent functions, attested by a statement issued by the employer;
    2. Teaching and non-teaching staff in schools;
    3. From students to higher education institutions.

Students are advised to bring their student identification card or proof of enrollment, in order to justify their being in transit from the University of Algarve to their place of residence.

This order comes into force immediately, and its wide publicity must be ensured, namely by notification to the institutional email address, dissemination on the academic portal and on the University of Algarve portal.
