UAlg takes part in European emergency preparedness exercise in Norway
UAlg was represented by Ana Paula Ferreira, Director of Technical Services at UAlg, and Luísa Quinteiro, who participated in this international initiative focused on crisis preparedness and emergency management.
The programme included sessions with international experts, technical visits, and participation in Exercise Nord 2026, a large-scale exercise simulating a complex incident involving multiple entities, such as emergency services, authorities and civil organisations.
The exercise took place in a highly realistic setting, enabling participants to observe the coordinated response of teams on the ground — including firefighters, police, medical services and aerial rescue units — as well as the collaboration between professionals and students in emergency response scenarios.
Over the three days, the participants had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in areas such as risk management, interinstitutional coordination and crisis preparedness, while also exchanging experiences with representatives from SEA-EU partner universities.
UAlg’s participation is part of the cooperation framework promoted by the SEA-EU Alliance, which encourages mobility and knowledge exchange between institutions, contributing to the development of strategic skills aligned with global challenges.
This participation reinforces the University of Algarve’s commitment to the continuous capacity-building of its services and to strengthening international cooperation in the field of safety and emergency management.
