UAlg welcomes students of the 1st SEA-EU joint bachelor's in Sustainable Blue Economy
The University of the Algarve has welcomed the students of the Sustainable Blue Economy (SeaBLUE) programme, the first joint bachelor's degree developed within the SEA-EU European University of the Seas alliance and a pioneer in Portugal.
In this edition of the programme, UAlg is hosting 13 international students who, after completing their first year at the Universidad de Cádiz, the coordinating institution of the programme, will attend the second year of the degree in the 2026/2027 academic year.
The welcome session was attended by the Vice-Rector for Partnerships and the European University of the Sea, the Deans of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology and the Faculty of Economics, the UAlg Programme Director, and representatives of the International Relations and Mobility Office (GRIM).
During this first contact with the University of the Algarve, the students had the opportunity to learn more about the institution through an institutional presentation and to meet with some of the programme's teaching staff. The welcome programme also included a cultural immersion component, with a guided tour of Faro's historic centre and a visit to the Faro Ciência Viva Centre, giving participants a first taste of the city and its cultural and scientific heritage.
The SeaBLUE degree is a milestone in European academic cooperation, promoting an international and multidisciplinary education focused on the challenges and opportunities of the Sustainable Blue Economy.
