The Algarve Academy achieved the maximum classification in seven indicators, and is still above average, with "Good" or "Very Good", in 16 indicators. Compared with the previous year, UAlg showed improvements in four indicators, two of which achieved the maximum classification.

The maximum classification of "Very Good" achieved in this ranking was reached in the following indicators: Research publications of standard size (Research); Post-doctorates (Research); Spin-offs (Knowledge transfer); Joint international publications (Internationalisation); Foreign teaching staff (Internationalisation); International doctorates (Internationalisation); Regional publications with industrial partners (Regional Involvement).

There is also the creation of a new indicator that, although not yet integrated in the general ranking this year, is specified in the specific rankings of each HEI: Gender Balance (Teaching and Learning). It should be noted that in this new indicator UAlg has a score of "0", with a maximum classification of "Very Good", indicating equal opportunities for both genders in the evolution of their academic career.

It is worth noting that in previous years "Research", "Knowledge transfer" and "Internationalisation" had already achieved top marks as a result of UAlg's development strategy, affirming it as a cosmopolitan and innovative university, which is strongly committed to the production of knowledge and its transfer to society. This year the University of Algarve stands out again in "Internationalisation", with the improvement in the indicator of international doctorates.

This ranking compares, this year, 1948 universities from 97 countries worldwide, based on five performance criteria: Teaching and Learning, Research, Knowledge Transfer, International Orientation and Regional Engagement.

Each university is classified taking into account a total of 35 indicators, which can be consulted at www.umultirank.org.
